The Last Ecstatic Days: Film Screening + Community Conversation

Join us for an intimate evening at Union Afterhours as we gather to watch The Last Ecstatic Days - a moving and deeply human exploration of death, dying, and what it means to truly live at the end of life.

This is not just a film screening. It’s an invitation.

After the viewing, stay for a guided community conversation led by Britna, Dallas-based Death Doula. Together, we’ll gently open space to reflect, share, and connect around themes the film brings forward like grief, presence, legacy, and the often-unspoken realities of dying.

What to expect:

  • A powerful film viewing in a cozy, after-hours coffeeshop setting

  • A thoughtfully facilitated, no-pressure conversation

  • A space rooted in compassion, curiosity, and community

Giving back:
50% of all ticket sales will be donated to Emberlight: Center for Conscious Living & Dying, supporting their work in reimagining end-of-life care and conscious dying.

Whether you’re navigating loss, working in caregiving spaces, or simply feeling the pull to engage more honestly with mortality, this evening is for you.

Let’s gather. Let’s witness. Let’s talk about the things we’re not supposed to talk about = and find connection there.

About This Film

Ethan Sisser, a young man with terminal brain cancer, sits alone in his hospital room. When he starts livestreaming his death journey on social media, thousands of people around the world join to celebrate his courage. Still, Ethan envisions more – to teach the world how to die without fear. To do that, he needs to film his death. Honoring Ethan's wish, his doctor Aditi Sethi transports him to an idyllic house in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Asheville, North Carolina. What unfolds next is a story rarely glimpsed: how a community of strangers helps a young man die with grace. A sensory immersion into leaving the body, “The Last Ecstatic Days” reveals a man who will not let us forget him – even after he’s taken his final breath.
